CNC 101 - CNC Machine Operator Description: Basic principles and operative skills in the operation of CNC milling machine and lathes.

Course Content:
- Introduction to CNC machining
- Shop math skills
- Introduction to CNC milling
- Introduction to CNC lathe
Learning Outcomes:
- Apply machine shop safety principles. (1)
- Describe the common types of injuries in material handling. (1)
- Identify personal protective equipment to be used. (1)
- Use proper lifting techniques. (1)
- Clean and perform general housekeeping of lab equipment. (1)
- Apply shop math - fractions and decimals. (2)
- Convert English to Metric units. (2)
- Measure dimensional sizes with the correct machining language. (2)
- Interpret a micrometer scale. (2)
- Anaylyze basic lines and line characteristics. (2)
- Identify the geometric symbols on a drawing and explain what they are. (2)
- Use a coordinate graph or Cartesian coordinate system. (2)
- Calculate speeds and feeds for a CNC mill. (2)
- Turn on and home a CNC milling machine. (3)
- Set up work offsets and tool offsets on CNC mill machine. (3)
