ART 200 - Art History: Paleolithic Period through the Late Middle Ages  ART 1101.
Description: Western art from the Paleolithic Period to the Fourteenth Century. Two and three-dimensional art and architecture evaluated in historical and cultural context. Application of design principles.

- Prehistoric art
- Art of ancient civilizations
- Art of classical antiquity
- Early Christian, Medieval and Byzantine art
- Romanesque art
- Gothic art
- Analytical writing and the oral critique
- Application of principles and elements of design
- Traditional, historical or contemporary examples of art
- Theories, methods and historiography of art history
- Implication of culture, ethnicity, race and gender on art
