AVT 290 - Commercial Added Category- Airplane Single Engine Land Description: Advanced Airplane flight operations and navigation including mountain flying techniques for students who are crossing over from helicopter and have obtained a commercial helicopter rating. Preparation for Federal Aviation Administration commercial pilot oral and practical test. TRAINING HOURS: Dual Instruction (C182): 48.6; Dual Complex (C182RG): 11; Pilot Briefings: 20.5; Total Flight: 59.6; Total Aeronautical Experience: 80.1.
Prerequisites: Commercial Rotorcraft- Helicopter rating

Course Content:
- Applicable regulations issued by the Federal Aviation Administration for commercial pilot privileges, limitations, and flight operations
- Basic aerodynamics and the principles of flight
- Safe and efficient operation of aircraft
- Weight and balance computations
- Use of performance charts
- Significance and effects of exceeding aircraft performance limitations
- Principles and functions of aircraft systems
- Maneuvers, procedures, and emergency operations appropriate to the aircraft
- Nighttime and high-altitude operations
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify, assess and mitigate risks, encompassing the requirements of 14CFR Part 141 Appendix I. (1-9)
Required Assessment:
- FAA knowledge and practical exam.
