PSY 245 - Human Growth and Development Description: Study of physical, intellectual, moral, emotional, personality, and social development of the human being, beginning with conception and continuing through childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age, and dying. Emphasis on quantitative and qualitative ways people change throughout the life span and factors which contribute to human diversity as well as to individual uniqueness. Research methods appropriate to the study of human development are also considered.

- The scientific study of human growth and development across the life span from both ethological/biological ("nature") and environmental ("nurture") perspectives
- Theories of cognitive development across the life span
- Theories of social-emotional development across the life span

- Identify current and historical scientific approaches to research in human development. (1)
