CSA 110 - Introduction to Computer Information Systems CIS 1120. Description: Business information systems from a business intelligence perspective. Includes the uses of application software with emphasis on database and spreadsheet packages for efficient and effective problem solving.

Course Content:
- The Internet, the World Wide Web and e-commerce
- Components of the system unit including input, output, and storage
- Operating systems, utility programs, and disk and file management
- Communications, networks and their topology
- Database management and spreadsheets use
- Computers and society, security (e.g., malware and firewalls), privacy, and ethics
- Software development
- Information systems in business
- Enterprise technologies
- Computer careers and certification
Learning Outcomes:
- Define the basic hardware components of a computer system and explore their uses. (2)
- Identify the basic components of the Internet, World Wide Web and their relationship. (1)
- Describe the functions of an operating system and utility programs. (3)
- Explain the components and their uses for networking. (4)
- Design and create using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. (5)
