ELT 295 - Apprenticeship: Electrical Instrumentation


Description: Supervised field experience in electrical and instrumentation, motor control and/or process control.

Course Content:

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Perform regular maintenance tasks on electrical instrumentation equipment. (1,3)
  2. Make repairs to electrical instrumentation equipment under the supervision of a senior technician. (1,3)
  3. Demonstrate discipline-specific safety tasks. (1,2,3)
  4. Demonstrate appropriate workplace behaviors and professional ethics. (2)
  5. Apply discipline-specific knowledge and skills in the professional workplace. (1,2,3)
  6. Utilize communication skills throughout the apprenticeship experience. (2)
  7. Use specialized equipment, software, and/or tools as required. (1,2,3)

Required Assessment:
  1. Contractual agreement that includes individual learning outcomes that are approved by supervising faculty
  2. Verification of employment with partner business for the duration of the semester
  3. A minimum of two evaluations by the workplace employer or supervisor.
