NSG 330 - Advanced Assessment and Health Promotion Description: Building on prior learning, focus is on assessment of families, groups, and communities. The emphasis will be on health promotion across the lifespan.
Prerequisites: Program Admission.

Course Content:
- Health promotion: vulnerable populations, individual, family and global health
- Therapeutic relationships
- Health education: Screening, promotion, nutrition, physical activity
- Stress management
- Complimentary, integrative and alternative strategies
Learning Outcomes:
- Analyze historical concepts related to cultural factors of health and explain their impact on patients. (1, 3, 5)
- Identify risk factors of dysfunctional health patterns and create strategies to promote therapeutic relationships with diverse populations. (1-4)
- Assess families and communities throughout the lifespan and discuss the process and implementation of evidence to improve health promotion. (1, 3)
- Explain how concepts of teaching and learning impact discussions of health screenings and their role in health promotion and prevention. (1, 3)
- Explain the importance of nutrition counseling and physical activity across the lifespan. (3)
- Evaluate how stress affects a patient, psychosocial, social, spiritual, and behavioral health. (4)
- Examine the concepts of complementary health therapies and the role of the nurse related to alternative treatment. (5)
- Analyze the implications that communicable diseases have on patients and communities. (1, 3)
