NSG 340 - Nursing Informatics Description: Includes an overview of nursing informatics to improve communication, management of health care and optimal outcomes. Nursing's role and ethical considerations with informatics will be discussed.
Prerequisites: Program Admission.

Course Content:
- Nursing informatics concepts: Foundational and specialty
- Clinical informatics: Electronic health record, flexibility in safety and healthcare collaboration
- Ethics and security of information
- Population based informatics
- Research implications in informatics
- Evolution of nursing informatics related to consumer information and health education

- Interpret how information systems are used to generate knowledge. (1)
