ENG 272 - Introduction to Creative Nonfiction
Description: Introduction to creative nonfiction as a genre of writing, including techniques for reading, analyzing, and writing creative nonfiction which may include memoir, personal essay, travel or nature writing, journalistic writing, and other types of writing as determined by the instructor.
Prerequisites: Reading Proficiency. ENG 101 (may be taken concurrently)

Course Content:
- Creative nonfiction as a genre
- Critical reading of literary and student texts
- Contextual (historical or cultural) analysis of creative nonfiction texts
- Methods of crafting, critiquing, and revising works of creative nonfiction
Learning Outcomes:
- Define elements of creative nonfiction (1).
- Evaluate works of creative nonfiction (2).
- Examine historical and culture influences on works of creative nonfiction (3).
- Apply the writing process to create works of creative nonfiction (4).
Required Assessment:
- Minimum of 2500 words of monitored writing.
