BSA 494 - Capstone Project: Business


Description: Students will engage in a supervised project or case study, applying business concepts and theories from previous coursework. Under faculty guidance, students will address a real-world business challenge, develop a business plan, or explore a business concept. The capstone experience emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and evaluation of business solutions in a practical context. S/U grading only.

Prerequisites: Program Admission. BSA 394 .

Course Content:
  1. Real-world business problems or project scope
  2. Industry trends and the business environment to inform project design
  3. Integration of advanced business theories and concepts
  4. Project planning, management, and time management techniques
  5. Communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  6. Feasibility and potential impact of proposed business solutions
  7. Project process and outcomes
  8. Presentation and defense of the project or case study

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Synthesize business concepts to form strategies for a real-world problem or project. (1,2)
  2. Create solutions for complex business challenges using critical thinking and innovation. (5)
  3. Evaluate the feasibility and potential impact of proposed business solutions. (6)
  4. Compose a comprehensive report and presentation that demonstrates problem-solving and project management skills. (4,7)
  5. Defend business ideas and solutions in both written and oral formats. (8)

Required Assessment:
  1. Submit a written proposal outlining the business problem or project scope, with specific learning objectives approved by the supervising faculty.
  2. Provide regular updates on the project's status, challenges, and next steps to keep the supervising faculty informed.
  3. Submit a comprehensive report documenting the project process and conclusions, integrating business concepts and problem-solving skills.
  4. Present and defend the project findings to demonstrate the application of business theories and critical thinking.
  5. Reflect on the overall experience and skills developed through a written self-evaluation, focusing on project management and the feasibility of solutions.
