THR 165 - Script Analysis Description: Focus on discovering creative, in-depth techniques of script analysis and realizing different methods for researching the script. Techniques will be applied to understanding the script as an actor, technician, director, designer, dramaturg or playwright.
Prerequisites: Reading Proficiency.
Credits: 3 Lecture: 1 Lab: 4
Course Content:
- Play script reading
- Production roles
- Script analysis
- Stage management and logistical planning
- Stage, sound and lighting design
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify components of script, such as plot, character and theme. (1)
- Develop a production timeline. (1,2,4)
- Act in various production roles such as Director, Stage Manager, Scenic Designer, Lighting Designer, Actor, Dramaturg. (2,4,5)
- Interpret the script through traditional and contemporary methods. (1,3)
- Present a series of designs in lighting, scenic and costumes which all support overall choices of the playwright and artistic director. (2,3,4,5)
