ELT 140 - Machine Vision

 

 
Description: Foundational skills required to set up, teach, test, and modify machine vision systems used in robotic and integrated manufacturing work cells. Machine vision system applications including object detection, error proofing, and safety bounding.

Prerequisites: ELT 135  (may be taken concurrently)

Course Content:

  1. Vision configuration (software and hardware)
  2. Camera setup and calibration
  3. Object detection and retrieval
  4. Error proofing
  5. Safety bounding
  6. Artificial intelligence

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Compare machine vision system considerations such as various software and hardware configurations. (1)
  2. Configure a vision system to communicate a between robot and the teaching computer. (1)
  3. Calibrate a camera. (2)
  4. Program a machine vision system for object detection. (3) 
  5. Program a robot with integrated machine vision for object retrieval. (3)
  6. Program a machine vision system for an error proofing task. (4)
  7. Setup safety boundaries that utilize machine vision. (5)
  8. Describe emerging technologies in machine vision including artificial intelligence-driven systems. (6)
