Description: Introduces and develops the aeronautical knowledge required to earn an FAA Private Pilot Certificate with airplane category and single-engine land class ratings.

Course Content:

  1. Aviation publications, regulations, and NTSB accident reporting
  2. Aeronautical charts
  3. Radio communication
  4. Weather information
  5. Aerodynamics, weight and balance, and performance
  6. Cross country flight planning
  7. Safe and efficient airplane operations
  8. Aeronautical decision making and judgment

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Apply aviation advisory circulars (ACs), airworthiness directives (ADs), regulations, and NTSB guidelines and requirements to make safe and legal decisions. (1, 7, 8)
  2. Explain clear and legal radio communication. (3)
  3. Interpret airplane weight and balance and performance data. (5)
