AVT 269 - Flight Instructor Flight

 

 
Description: Introduces and develops the flight proficiency required to earn an FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with airplane category and single-engine land class ratings.

Prerequisites: Program Admission. AVT 259 , and AVT 267  (may be taken concurrently)

Course Content:

  1. Fundamentals of instructing and flight
  2. Pre- and post-flight preparation and procedures
  3. Preflight lesson on a maneuver to be performed in flight
  4. Airport operations
  5. Takeoffs, landings, and go-arounds
  6. Performance and ground-reference maneuvers
  7. Slow flight, stalls, and spins
  8. Technical subject areas
  9. Basic instrument maneuvers
  10. Emergency operations

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Apply fundamentals of instructing and flight to all ground and flight activities. (1)
  2. Model safe, efficient, and legal pre- and post-flight preparation and  procedures. (2)
  3. Build preflight lessons on flight maneuvers to be performed in flight. (3)
  4. Plan and deliver ground and/or in-flight lessons related to airport operations, takeoffs, landings, go-arounds, performance maneuvers, ground-reference maneuvers, slow flight, stalls, spins, basic instrument maneuvers, and emergency operations. (4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10)
  5. Construct ground and/or in-flight lessons related to technical subject areas such as airplane systems, aerodynamics, performance, weight and balance, and regulations. (8)

  1. FAA Flight Instructor Airplane Single-Engine Checkride and Flight Instructor Airman Certification Standards.
