DES 103 - Principles of Visual Communication II

 


Description: Visual design exploration as language and process for creative thinking, realization, and communication. Teaches designing with complex page systems integrating type and image. Studio emphasis on analyzing constraints, iterative development, and delivering vendor-ready print productions.

Prerequisites: DES 102 (may be taken concurrently)

  6. Design problem definition (briefs, requirements)
  7. Folios, headers, footers, and other repeating page elements
  8. Color systems and palette management
  9. Document character and paragraph styles
  10. Information design fundamentals
  11. Prepress and output preparation
  12. Photorealistic print mockups
  13. Accessibility refinement for printed visual systems
  14. Presentation of visual design concepts
  15. Historical and contemporary references
  16. Formal analysis vocabulary
  17. Formal elements and principles of design
  18. Critique
