DMS 124 - Vascular Procedures II Description: Focuses on the performance, interpretation, and clinical correlation of duplex ultrasound examinations throughout the vascular system. Students will gain hands-on scanning experience across cerebrovascular, peripheral venous, peripheral arterial, and abdominal vascular systems.
Prerequisites: DMS 123
Credits: 3 Lecture: 1 Lab: 6
Course Content:
- Foundations
- Cerebrovascular duplex
- Peripheral venous imaging
- Peripheral arterial imaging
- Abdominal and visceral duplex
- Surgically altered anatomy
Learning Outcomes:
- Optimize imaging and Doppler settings to evaluate vascular anatomy and pathology. (1)
- Identify stenosis, occlusion, aneurysm, and other abnormalities. (2-5)
- Accurately measure velocity ratios, spectral waveforms, and diameter/area reduction. (2-5)
- Perform complete vascular duplex studies according to standardized protocols. (2-6)
- Evaluate surgically altered vascular anatomy, including bypass grafts, EVAR, and dialysis access. (6)
