EXW 160 - Health and Wellness Coaching

 


Description: Provides the foundational practical skills for the application of the appropriate structure and processes of health and wellness coaching. Fundamental techniques and concepts used in coaching to establish effective coach-client partnerships, build trust and rapport, assess client readiness, and ensure ethical and professional considerations in coaching.

Course Content:
  1. Foundations and scope of health and wellness coaching
  2. Coach-client relationship: trust, rapport, and presence
  3. Assessment of client readiness, values, and vision
  4. Communication skills: active listening, empathy and motivational interviewing
  5. Goal setting, action planning and behavior change strategies
  6. Accountability, progress monitoring, and adjusting plans
  7. Ethical, legal, and professional standards in coaching

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Establish foundational understanding of the role, scope, and evidence base of health and wellness coaching. (1)
  2. Demonstrate techniques to build trust, rapport, and maintain a client-centered presence in coaching interactions. (2)
