EXW 160 - Health and Wellness Coaching
Description: Provides the foundational practical skills for the application of the appropriate structure and processes of health and wellness coaching. Fundamental techniques and concepts used in coaching to establish effective coach-client partnerships, build trust and rapport, assess client readiness, and ensure ethical and professional considerations in coaching.

Course Content:
- Foundations and scope of health and wellness coaching
- Coach-client relationship: trust, rapport, and presence
- Assessment of client readiness, values, and vision
- Communication skills: active listening, empathy and motivational interviewing
- Goal setting, action planning and behavior change strategies
- Accountability, progress monitoring, and adjusting plans
- Ethical, legal, and professional standards in coaching
Learning Outcomes:
- Establish foundational understanding of the role, scope, and evidence base of health and wellness coaching. (1)
- Demonstrate techniques to build trust, rapport, and maintain a client-centered presence in coaching interactions. (2)
