GST 230 - Precision Gun Parts Maufacturing


Description: Builds upon foundational computer numerical control (CNC) machining principles to develop precision manufacturing skills for custom firearm components.  Applies advanced CNC programming to produce high-tolerance firearm components while integrating quality assurance, precision measurement, and process optimization.

Prerequisites: Program Admission. GST 201 (may be taken concurrently) and GST 224.

Course Content:
  1. Advanced CNC programming for firearm components
  2. Multi-axis machining operations
  3. Fixture design, setup, and workholding for precision parts
  4. Advanced lathe operations for barrel and receiver components
  5. Surface finishing, deburring, and tolerance control
  6. Process verification and dimensional quality assurance
  7. Advanced material applications in firearms manufacturing
  8. Production workflow integration and optimization

  2. Set up and execute multi-axis machining operations using advanced tooling, workholding, and part alignment techniques. (2,3,4)
