IHR 250 - Thai Foot Massage
Description: Learn techniques to do a soothing, restful hour-long massage using deep pressure, warming lotions, and a wooden dowel.
Credits: 2 Lecture: 1.5 Lab: 1
Course Content:
- Thai foot massage history and principles
- Body mechanics, client positioning, and practitioner preparation
- Wooden dowel and warming lotions
- Thai foot massage sequencing and techniques
- Leg massage
- Hands-on practice and refinement of technique
- Draping, hygiene, sanitation, and safety
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the history, cultural context, and foundational principles of Thai foot massage. (1)
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics, client positioning, and practitioner preparation for effective sessions. (2)
- Apply hand, thumb, palm, and finger techniques specific to Thai foot massage. (3)
- Incorporate the wooden dowel and warming lotions safely and effectively into massage practice. (4)
- Perform a structured, hour-long Thai foot massage sequence. (5)
