The Gunsmithing degree program prepares students for employment in entry-level positions in firearm and metal industries.

Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Gunsmithing Degree program, the learner will be able to:
- Safely operate hand and machine tools common to the gunsmithing trade.
- Use measuring tools such as micrometers, indicators, verniers and various gauges.
- Use a computer to develop ballistic data and to document research assignments.
- Completely disassemble firearms for metal refinishing and reassembly.
- Identify different rifle operating systems.
- Identify different shotgun operating systems including maintenance, repair and customization.
- Lay out, duplicate, inlet, fit, glass bed, install accessories, apply finish, and checker the Classic American rifle stock.
- Perform computer assisted drafting operations on a personal computer.
- Identify, repair and extensively modify pistols and revolvers.
- Install rifle barrels using proven methods to enhance accuracy.
- Plan, set-up, make, and install specialty accessories frequently encountered in the firearms industry.
- Communicate professionally with customers and vendors.
- Develop a business plan, complete with demographics, suitable for a small business loan application.
- Develop marketing tools such as brochures and ads.
- Develop an accurate price list for performing technical services.
