Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Gunsmithing Degree program, the learner will be able to:
- Safely operate hand and machine tools common to the gunsmithing trade. (GST 100, 150, 200, 250)
- Use micrometers, indicators, verniers and various gauges for measuring. (GST 100, 150, 200, 250)
- Develop ballistic data and document research assignments. (GST 100, 250)
- Disassemble and prepare firearms for metal finishing and reassemble. (GST 100, 250)
- Identify, disassemble, and assemble different rifle operating systems. (GST 100, 250)
- Prepare glass bed, install accessories, apply finish and checker a wood stock. (GST 150, 250)
- Identify different top break shotgun operating systems. (GST 150, 250)
- Identify, disassemble, and assemble, different handgun operating systems. (GST 150)
- Install rifle barrels using proven methods to enhance accuracy. (GST 200, 250)
- Identify, repair and modify pistols and revolvers. (GST 200, 250)
- Prepare glass bed, install accessories, apply finish and checker a synthetic stock. (GST 200, 250)
- Design, set-up, machine and install specialty accessories encountered in the firearms industry. (GST 200, 250)
- Communicate professionally with customers and vendors. (GST 200, 250)
- Develop a business plan suitable for a small business loan application. (GST 250)
- Research and develop an accurate price list for performing technical services. (GST 250)
