Early Childhood Education Advanced Certificate

A student who completes the Advanced Certificate in ECE is prepared to enter the early care and education profession as a highly skilled teacher of birth-preschool. The Advanced ECE certificate can also fulfill the Early Childhood Endorsement requirements from the Arizona Department of Education to assist elementary education teachers to earn their early childhood endorsement. All credits earned apply to the Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education.
Credits Hours Required: 30
Note: A current Arizona fingerprint clearance card is required for students working in the Del E. Webb Family Enrichment Center. A current card in Pediatric First Aid and Safety will be required for graduation.

Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Early Childhood Education - Advanced Certificate program, the learner will be able to:
- Build strong relationships with families through understanding, respect and valuing the characteristics of both the families and their communities.
- Articulate historical perspectives, as well as current trends, in the field of Early Childhood Education.
- Apply relationship-based proactive strategies to promote pro-social development of young children, aged birth through 8 years.
- Identify strategies to plan and implement instructional practices to promote literacy in children birth-age eight.
- Use formal and informal observation techniques to document the development and learning in young children.
- Provide opportunities and environments that support the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, language and creative development and learning in children birth-age eight.
- Apply ethical and professional standards that emphasize reflective practices in working with young children, parents, other professionals and self.
- Implement basic health, safety, and nutritional practices with young children as required by regulation.
