Completion of this program of study prepares students for entry-level employment as visual designers in agencies, in-house teams, and production environments.

Students develop competencies in typography, layout, illustration, digital imaging, motion graphics, and web design using industry-standard tools; apply fine art techniques; practice introductory accessibility/usability; and produce multi-format deliverables to specification.

Upon successful completion of the Visual Design AAS program, the learner will be able to:

  1. Produce design compositions with industry-standard software to commnicate visually.
  2. Create motion sequences that integrate multiple design elements.
  3. Implement typographic systems using established conventions.
  4. Implement design solutions using fine art techniques.
  5. Produce production-ready design deliverables aligned to industry expectations.
  6. Evaluate visual work using discipline-specific vocabulary. 
  7. Relate historical and contemporary art/design examples to design decisions.
  8. Apply introductory usability principles to digital deliverables.
