ART 201 - Art History: Pre-Renaissance through the 21st Century ART 1102. Description: Western art from the Fourteenth to the Twentieth Century. Two- and three-dimensional art and architecture are evaluated in historical and cultural context. Application of design principles.

Course Content:
- Fourteenth century developments throughout Western Europe
- Fifteenth century developments throughout Western Europe art of classical antiquity
- High Renaissance and Mannerism in Italy and Northern Europe
- The Baroque and Rococo throughout Western Europe
- Eighteenth century developments in Europe and the Americas
- Nineteenth century European art and American landscape painting
- The rise of modern art
- Analytical writing and the oral critique
- Application of principles and elements of design
- Traditional, historical or contemporary examples of art
- Theories, methods and historiography of art history
- Implication of culture, ethnicity, race and gender on art

Required Assessment:
