The Associate of Applied Science in Social and Human Services is a terminal degree designed to prepare students to work in entry-level positions in health and social service agencies.
Credit Hours Required: 60-63
Note: Students planning to pursue a Bachelor's Degree should follow an appropriate Associate of Arts pathway and see an Academic Advisor.

Upon successful completion of the Social and Human Services Degree program, the learner will be able to: - Describe the history of social problems in the U.S. and policies of the current social welfare delivery system. (SOC 220, SOC 250)
- Apply interpersonal and clinical counseling skills with clients in the therapeutic process. (PSY 175, PSY 275)
- Utilize crisis and trauma counseling skills and intervention strategies. (PSY 262)
- Employ case management techniques to identify and resolve client problems. (PSY 220)
- Discuss the impact of psychological and substance abuse. (PSY 101, PSY 175, PSY 241)
- Identify legal and ethical issues as they apply to social and human services. (PSY 220, PSY 296)
- Provide intervention services within local community social and human service agencies. (PSY 296)
