ANT 101 - Stones, Bones, and Human Origins


Description: Introduction to physical anthropology. Emphasis on population genetics, primate evolution and behavior, and fossil man.

  2. Evolutionary thought and theory
  3. The mechanisms of evolution
  4. Population genetics
  5. Primates
  6. The hominid fossil record
  7. Human diversity and variation
  8. Applied physical anthropology
  9. The future of the genus Homo

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explain fundamental ideas, methods, and theories of physical anthropology. (1)
  2. Describe how ancient geographies and environments influenced primate evolution and social behavior. (2) 
  3. Apply the theory of evolution to the study of primates. (3,4,5)
