CHP 230 - Leadership Development Studies Description: Designed to provide emerging and existing leaders the opportunity to explore the concept of leadership and to develop and improve their leadership skills. The course integrates readings from the humanities, experiential exercises, films, and contemporary readings on leadership.
Prerequisites: Acceptance into Honors Program.

Learning Outcomes:
- Identify important events in the history of leadership studies. (1)
- Develop a personal philosophy of leadership. (1)
- Define servant-leadership and evaluate the role of the servant leader. (2)
- Discuss the role of ethics in leadership (3)
- Develop and evaluate strategies for articulating a vision, building a team, setting goals, making decisions, and managing conflicts. (4-7)
- Discuss the role of delegation and strategies for empowering others. (9)
- Employ effective leadership strategies (2-9)
- Discuss the processes of critical thinking as they apply to leadership. (10)
Required Assessment: Participation in a service learning or student leadership project.
