                  NSG 142 - Application of Nursing Theory I  Description: An introductory clinical course with application of theoretical concepts of wellness and illness; emphasis on basic nursing skills and application of nursing process in meeting the needs of diverse clients. Clinical practicum occurs in well-defined settings and integrates the competencies of nursing practice to include; patient centered care, professionalism, communication. teamwork and collaboration, safety, quality, informatics and evidence- based practice. Clinical group pre-conference and post-conference discussions occur with application of theoretical concepts.
  Prerequisites: Admission to nursing program
  Corequisite: NSG 140 , NSG 143 , NSG 144 , and NSG 145

  Course Content:  
	- Application of basic nursing skills to care for the adult patient in the long term or rehab environment including assessment, medication administration, documentation, and care planning
 
	- Application of principles of patient centered care in various healthcare settings
 
	- Application of principles related to safety in various healthcare settings
 
	- Application of principles related to effective communication in various healthcare settings
 
	- Application of principles related to teamwork in various healthcare settings
 
	- Application of principles related to quality improvement in various healthcare settings
 
	- Application of principles related to evidence based practice in various healthcare settings
 
	- Application of principles related to Informatics in various healthcare settings
