DAN 115 - Tap I Description: The fundamentals of tap dance and tap techniques.

Course Content:
- Cultural and stylistic foundations of tap
- Tap terminology
- Kinesthetic and proprioception awareness
- Locomotor and non-locomotor movement phrases and floor patterns
- Physical strength and flexibility
- Muscular coordination
- Musicality, including syncopation
- Intention of movement in artistry
- Choreography
Learning Outcomes:
- Analyze with self and peer-reflection on the training process. (1)
- Communicate using tap terminology. (2)
- Perform rhythm and show tap beginning proficiently in technique and artistry. (3-8)
- Perform tap with kinesthetic awareness, proprioception, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and musicality. (2-7)
- Dance and perform in relation to the music including syncopation. (7)
- Perform the sounds of one's tap shoes with clarity. (8)
- Perform directed and improvised choreography. (9)
