1. Interpret blueprints and drawings. (1)
2. Utilize manufacturer's guides and maintenance history logs to determine appropriate maintenance tasks to prevent failure and maximize equipment life. (1, 2)
3. Inspect and install bearings, seals and lubricant. (3)
4. Inspect, install and align shafts and couplings. (4)
5. Inspect, install and align belts and pulleys. (5)
6. Inspect, install and align gears and gearboxes. (6)
7. Install and repair piping. (7)
8. Identify and correct common faults in power transmission systems including bearing and seal failures, excessive vibration, and overheating. (3-6)
9. Eliminate non-mechanical device failures while troubleshooting power transmission systems. (8)
10. Perform root cause analysis on power transmission system failures. (8)
