NSG 410 - Issues in Professional Practice


Description: Building upon the RN to BSN student's practice, explores current political, economic, cultural, and social issues related to practice within the evolving health care system. The role of the nurse leader, advocating for quality within this changing environment will be discussed.

  3. Economics in Healthcare: finance, reimbursement, for-profit, non-profit
  4. Health policy and advocacy
  5. Concepts of power, empowerment, incivility, and delegation in nursing leadership
  6. Healthcare disparities: community and vulnerable populations
  7. Health literacy and health outcomes

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Analyze a nurse's role in improving local, national, and global health through the principles of power, empowerment, and effective delegation to enhance team dynamics and patient care. (1,2,7)
