ICE 255 - Mammography Clinical Education Description: Supervised clinical assignments follow a structured approach involving observation, assistance, and the achievement of specific mammography competency benchmarks over the course of a semester. These experiences are designed to help students develop essential skills in patient care and mammographic positioning through a competency-based approach.
Prerequisites: Program Admission.
Corequisite: ICE 250

Course Content:
- Adherence to the professional practice standards
- Practicing in accordance with the ethical standards
- Planning and time management
- Communication, critical thinking, and problem solving
- Specialized equipment, tools, and software
- Patient care
Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate proper workplace conduct and uphold professional ethics. (1,2)
- Act upon written and verbal directives. (3,4)
- Utilize specialized equipment, software and tools as necessary. (5)
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team. (6)
Required Assessment:
- Documentation of student clinical hours meeting or exceeding the program's minimum semester requirements.
- Daily log of exams: performed.
- Maintenance of repetition log.
- Evaluations by the supervising technologist.
- Midterm Evaluation
- Final Affective Evaluation
- Completion of 25 initial supervised hands-on mammographic examinations as required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act and Program (MQSA).
- Completion of 75 additional hands-on mammographic examinations as outlined by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
