RAD 200B - Radiology Clinical Education


Description: Supervised clinical assignments following a structured approach involving observation, assistance, and the achievement of specific radiographic competency benchmarks over the course of a semester. These experiences are designed to help students develop essential skills in patient care and radiographic positioning through a competency-based approach.

Prerequisites: RAD 200A  and RAD 215 .

Corequisite: RAD 250  and RAD 255 .

Course Content:
  1. Organizational orientation of assigned placement
  2. Adherence to the professional practice standards established by American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT)
  3. Practicing in accordance with the ethical standards set by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  4. Planning and time management
  5. Communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving
  6. Specialized equipment, tools, and software

Required Assessment:
  1. Documentation of student clinical hours meeting or exceeding the program's minimum semester requirements.
  2. Daily log of exams: observed, assisted or performed.
  3. Maintenance of competency log.
  4. A minimum of two evaluations by the clinical coordinator per rotation.
    1. Midterm Evaluation
    2. Final Affective Evaluation
  5. Student's evaluation of the clinical site and clinical preceptor.
  6. Image analysis oral presentation.
  7. Complete a minimum of 15 competencies until completion.
