MET 250 - Projects in Manufacturing Technology


Description: Manufacturing technology principles and techniques including primary and secondary processes, rapid prototyping, quality control principles and optimization manufacturing techniques.

Prerequisites: CNC 102  or CNC 201  or EGR 102  or EGR 180  or MET 200  or Instructor permission. May be taken concurrently.

  1. Differentiate primary and secondary processing. (1)
  2. Compare the processes involved in making raw materials. (1)
  3. Differentiate types of secondary manufacturing processes including casting, shaping, forming, molding, machining, and 3D printing. (2)
  4. Relate the conditioning processes that change the physical properties of a material. (2)
  5. Compare the types of finishing processes. (2)
  6. Demonstrate the basic principles of rapid prototyping. (3)
  7. Employ quality control. (4)
  8. Demonstrate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances. (4)
  9. Analyze the reasons for using ISO 9000 Quality Certification. (4)
