RAD 111L - Radiographic Positioning Lab I


Description: Application of radiographic positioning for the upper and lower extremities, shoulder girdle, chest, pelvis, pelvic girdle, and abdomen.

Prerequisites: Admission to the Radiologic Technology program. Reading Proficiency.

Corequisite: RAD 100 , RAD 111 RAD 125 RAD 170 , and RAD 175 .

  1. Positioning and projection terminology
  2. General and patient considerations
  3. Positioning considerations
  4. Image analysis standards
  5. Image production factors and corrective actions

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Use radiographic technique using anatomic, positioning, and projection terminology. (1,3,4,5)
  2. Apply patient communication techniques and planning. (2,3)
  3. Apply patient positioning techniques for common exams. (3)
  4. Perform image analysis evaluating the anatomy, the radiographic image appearance, characteristics of structures visualized, and if the radiograph is acceptable or requires corrective action. (1,4,5)
  5. Employ image production factors and corrective action for routine positions. (5)
